RIM kembali merelease Blackberry terbarunya yang diberi nama BlackBerry Tour 9630. BlackBerry Tour 9630 ini merupakan sebuah paket smartphone untuk memudahkan penggunanya mengakses email, kalender, kontak dan aplikasi-aplikasi bisnis lainnya dimanapun dan kapanpun berada. BlackBerry tour 9630 ditujukan untuk market share khusus eksekutif dan konsumen walaupun dalam kondisi ekonomi yang buruk sekarang ini. Model smartphone terbaru dari BlackBerry ini diberi nama BlackBerry Tour, dan akan melengkapi model smartphone BlackBerry lainnya, seperti BlackBerry Curve dan Bold yang ditujukan untuk user corporate high-end.

Co-Chief Executive RIM, Jim Balsillie, seperti yang dilansir Reuters, mengungkapkan bahwa device baru ini akan di-launching bersama dengan Verizon dan Sprint di United States dan Telus dan BCE Bell di Kanada. Walaupun device tersebut tidak berbeda dari banyak handset BlackBerry lainnya, seperti bentuk candy bar dengan full keyboard, namun Balsillie mengungkapkan bahwa smartphone BlackBerry Tour ini merupakan satu langkah ke depan yang besar.

Pihak RIM menyebut BlackBerry Tour ini sebagai “world phone”, yang berarti dapat dengan mudah mengakses suara dan layanan data jaringan di luar negara tempat tinggal pengguna. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa smartphone BlackBerry cocok untuk pebisnis, seperti tipe BlackBerry lainnya, tambah Balsillie. RIM telah mengumumkan smartphone BlackBerry Tour 9630 ini dengan dimensi tinggi 4.4 inch x lebar 2.4 inch x tebal 0.6 inch, bobot 5.2 oz. Untuk style-nya, BlackBerry Tour ini dilengkapi dengan track ball di bagian tengah, camera 3.2 megapiksel di bagian belakang, seperti di tipe Storm.

Melihat situs resmi BlackBerry.com ternyata ada kabar menggembirakan untuk anda yang penasaran dengan gadget cangih satu ini, pasalnya pihak RIM atau BlackBerry segera meluncurkan varian BlackBerry termurah yaitu BlackBerry Curve 8520 atau yang biasa kita dengar dengan kode Blackberry Gemini. Pihak BlackBerry sendiri menyatakan BlackBerry Gemini segera dijual hanya $130 dan mengklaimnya dengan perangkat termurah namun tetap berkualitas seperti perangkat BlackBerry lainnya.

Jika dilihat sekilas BlackBerry Gemini ini tampak seperti varian sebelumnya BlackBerry Curve 8900 Javelin yang dijual dengan harga kisaran Rp 5.000.000,- namun tentunya karena BlackBerry Gemini tersebut dijual lebih murah yaitu hanya $130 maka bisa dipastikan Gemini akan mengalami penurunan kualitas yang cukup berarti seperti halnya camera yang hanya 2.0MP dan lainnya.
Pihak RIM atau Blackberry sendiri pun telah menjalin kerjasama dengan tujuh perusahaan di Indonesia sebagai distributor dan importir resmi BlackBerry 8520 Gemini. Antara lain adalah Excelcomindo Pratama TBK, Indosat Tbk, Indosat Mega Media, Natrindo Telepon (AXIS), PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel, Malifax Indonesia, Erajaya Swasembada. Dan BlackBerry murah ini direncanakan akan meramaikan pasar smartphone Indonesia setelah bulan agustus 2009 dengan kisaran harga Rp 2.000.000,-

Jadi kita tunggu saja satu sampai tiga bulan kedepan apakah pihak RIM selaku produsen BlackBerry dan ketujuh perusahaan di Indonesia yang telah ditunjuk tersebut segera memenuhi janjinya untuk menghadirkan BlackBerry Gemini yang segera dijual hanya $130 ataupun paling mahal Rp 2.000.000,-
